Select Soccer Coaching Staff

Dutch Vigar - Director of Coaching & Academy

Dutch has over 29 years of competitive coaching experience, has been the boys soccer coach at New Albany HS since 1990, is an assistant coach for Indiana ODP and is also on the Kentucky and Indiana coaching education staff. He holds USSF “E” and "D" coaching licenses as well as the USSF National Youth License. He has also attended IU Soccer Coaching Symposium for the past 14 years as well as the Rene Meulensteen Academy training. He has played on various men’s indoor and outdoor soccer teams locally. Dutch is married and has one son. In his spare time he enjoys swimming, cycling, golfing, hiking, skiing and reading.

Mike Campbell - Academy Boys Coach

Mike has his “D” USSF license has coached both rec and select soccer for many years. He played high school varsity soccer, as well as rec and select club soccer. Mike hopes to convey his joy of playing soccer to another generation of players so they will develop an understanding of the game and realize that there is more to playing a sport (and in life) then winning or losing a game. Mike is married and has three children. He enjoys running marathons and triathlons in his spare time.

Chase and Jacob Holland- U10 2004 Surfers Girls Coaches

Jake Holland is in his second year of coaching. He has played four years of varsity at Floyd Central High School and was captain of his College team. Jake attends IUS and is in the nursing program. He is going to be a STAT flight nurse.
 
Jake's goal is to make sure the girls love the game/sport and have fun while developing their skills for future teams. To make it easy for them to pursue a future with soccer if they so desire. Jake is single with no children.

Ronald Lawrence - U11 2004 Boys Coach

Josh Stephenson - U11 Boys Red Coach

Josh holds the “E” coaching license and is in his first year as a Select coach after having coached rec for over 6 years. He played high school varsity soccer at New Albany. Josh hopes to share his lifelong passion for soccer with his team as he works with his players to develop both individually and as part of a team. Josh is married and has three dogs, and enjoys being outdoors and hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Jamie Oschner - U13 2002 Firehawks Boys Coach

Jamie currently holds a “D" coaching license & has 13+ years of coaching experience with teams at Mockingbird, Netsurfers, Ballard High School & Presentation Academy. Jamie holds player development as the measure of success to a victorious season and hopes to teach the value of self-discipline, respect and teamwork while having fun. He feels the lessons on teamwork & sportsmanship will be remembered long after the wins and losses are forgotten.  Jamie is married and has 4 children. He enjoys spending time with his family & keeping in shape by running, biking & swimming in order to participate in triathlons in his spare time

Nick Karaffa - U14 2001 Red Boys Coach

This is Nick's third season as head coach for the U-13 boys team after originally being the goalkeeper coach for SIU.  Nick also coached for Lexington Futbol Club ("LFC") in Lexington, Kentucky. 

Nick was a member of one of the original SIU teams (formerally New Albany Soccer Association or "NASA) before playing club in Louisville.  Nick was also a part of the '83 Indiana ODP State team and was a four year varsity player for New Albany High School.  After high school, Nick played four years for Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. 

Nick enjoys teaching younger players the intricacies of the game and maximizing each player's individual talent as well as their ability to play as a part of a team.  

Mark Konty - U14 2001 Gunners Boys Coach

Chelsea Grover - U14 2001 Surfers Girls Coach

Chelsea currently holds an  'E License'.  She has coaching experience at SKY Soccer club in Bowling Green Kentucky helping assistant coach the U15 Girls and U17 girls for the spring season after her last season playing WKU. She started playing soccer when she was 3, went over to Louisville to play Javanon at age 11. Played all 4 season at Jeffersonville High School on the Varsity Team. Had All Conference honors her junior and senior year there. Went on to play at Western Kentucky University as a defender all 4 years from 2007-2011. We won the Sun Belt Conference Regular season my freshman year.  She was also named captain of WKU's team her senior year.
 
Chelsea says "Soccer taught me that hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard, and to never give up on anything you want to achieve. Those things carry over in life. I hope the kids I coach have a blast but also grow and develop not only on the field but off the field as well."
 
Now that she is done playing, she enjoys running, and recently just did her 1st triathalon. Races give her a goal to set for herself to keep her motivated in that aspect of her life.
 

Dave Smith - Club Coach

Dave is in his 24th year of coaching and is entering his 16th year at the helm of Providence girls' soccer. He led the Providence girls to 7 Sectional titles, 4 Regional titles, 2 Semi-State championships and won the IHSAA 1A State Title in 2011.  Dave got his start with soccer when his two daughters turned 5 and played for Clark Co. Soccer, where they played until he founded the Net-Surfers Soccer Club in 1995, where his daughters played through high school.  He loves kids and believes they should, "Play hard, play fair and have fun." 

Russ Corby - U17 1998 Storm Boys Coach

Russ has coached high school soccer for 13 years, as well as rec, select and premier division club soccer. Russ also played 4 years of varsity high school soccer and 4 years of collegiate soccer at Bellarmine University. Russ’ goal is to teach the kids the fundamentals technical and tactical soccer in a fun but challenging environment, with the hopes that the players will develop a love for the game similar to his own. He plans to teach the kids the skills necessary to succeed on and off the field in a competitive but friendly environment that will develop the player’s confidence in themselves and build a cohesiveness with their teammates. Russ has been married for 14 years and has two children who both play select soccer. He enjoys spending time with family, boating and golfing in his spare time.

Paul Duckworth - U18 1997 Striker Boys Coach

Paul coached recreational soccer for 8 years and select for 12 years, and this is his 7th year with SIU (and we are happy to this Brit on our staff!). He holds a USSF 'D' license and National Youth coaching licenses. Paul played rec and select soccer as well as high school soccer.  Paul’s goal is to create the best team possible and to have the respect of the players, parents and other coaches. He gives the kids the tools and knowledge to be the best they can while giving the encouragement needed to develop skills.  Paul is married, has two children and in his spare time attends church and likes to play golf and travel.
 

Walter Iglesias - Club Coach

Walter has played soccer since he was 4, including playing 6 years with a club in Lima, Peru and winning several men’s tournaments in the Midwest U.S. over the years.  He is in his 5th year coaching for SIU/Net-Surfers and holds the “E” coaching license, and has also coached for the YMCA and Mockingbird Soccer Club. Walter has a passion to teach the beautiful game to others.
