Select Soccer Try-outs & Registration

SELECT TRYOUTS FOR THE 2018/2019 YEAR WILL BE THE WEEK OF

JUNE 11-14, 2018.

Try-outs are for every soccer player from 10U-19U. 

We are doing some changes this year in regard to our try-outs. We are excited about these changes and hope you will be too.

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR TRY-OUTS! We are trying to make it a faster, smoother check in process for our parents and players.

REGISTER FIRST & then find your try-out location. Parents, head back to registration for a meeting about SIU Select.

ALL AGE Girls Tryout June 11 & June 13    6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
ALL AGE Boys Tryouts June 12 & June 14 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: You must try-out with your birth year team unless you have an exception letter. 

Can’t attend tryouts due to travel? You must still register your player for tryouts and make a note during the application process that the player will not be present at the scheduled tryouts. Then let your present SIU Select coach know that your player cannot attend tryouts (if you are a current SIU Select player). Include the details of your situation, player’s name and date of birth. Email them to Amy Grelinger, SIU VP Select, siuselect@gmail.com

Tryouts and Team Selection

Tryouts are held at the end of the Spring season in accordance with Indiana Soccer tryout date rules to form Select teams for the upcoming Fall and the following Spring season. More detailed information can be found on our Select Tab.

  • Pre-register and skip the lines at try-outs by June 10th.
  • Players will complete the SIU Select Player Information Form at tryouts IF they did not pre-register.
  • We require each player to pay $10 which covers a t-shirt and administrative fees.
  • Players will be expected to participate in BOTH tryout sessions unless otherwise coordinated. 
  • SIU coaches will select the best players for each team. 
  • Players will be placed on teams at their age level based primarily on their soccer skills. 
  • Moving players from one team to another or playing up in age will be viewed as the exception to the rule. (Must have a letter for this to occur.)
  • Any player placement issues should be addressed with the VP-Select and the Director of Coaching. 
  • After teams are selected, every player will be contacted by phone by the coach.
  • Once the player has accepted the position, they will go to the Select registration link on the home page of siusoccer.com and register to play. TIME SENSITIVE LINK--once it closes, it is closed.
  • At this time they will pay $200 deposit, upload a head shot for their player card, have a notoarized medical form and enter their birth certificate to be verified by the state. (More detailed information below)

Once players accept a position, they are committed to SIU for the seasonal year (Fall and Spring), INCLUDING PAYMENT OF ALL FEES.  Those who do not make a team are encouraged to play Recreational or Recreational-plus soccer with SIU and try out again next year. 

Select Soccer Players Are Required By Indiana Soccer Rules To Remain A Member Of Their Assigned Team For The both Fall and Spring And May Not Change To Another Team During That Year.  By Committing To Our Teams In The Fall, You Agree To Pay All Fees In Full By The Due Date.  Fees Not Paid By The Due Date Will Incur A Late Fee Of $20 And Players Will Be Ineligible To Play!

PAPERWORK

If you are selected, congratulations and welcome! 

You will register for your team via a link on the home page. This is a date sensitive link. You need to register immediately or lose your spot on the team. This link connects you with our registration process using GotSoccer.

You may pay by credit card or by check payable to SIU, and mail to P.O. Box 3233, Clarksville, IN 47129. 

Be sure all information is entered correctly (club and team news is communicated via email so be sure your email address is correct).  Player cards are generated through GotSoccer so be sure the player’s name, and all information, is correct.

You will need to provide the following to your Team Manager once practices begin:

1.   Notarized Medical Release (notarized with a raised seal); we need a new Medical Release Form every year.  This release is on the registration form that you will print when you register.  It is the last step of your online registration thru GotSoccer.

2.   Copy of player birth certificate that we can keep.  Also need to upload your birth certificate to your Player Account in GotSoccer.

3.   Driver’s license size photo (head shot only) for player card – ANY OTHER SIZE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.  You need to upload your photo into your Player Account in Gotsoccer.

4.   For Kentucky residents only, need to complete their paperwork in order to be rostered to an Indiana team (http://www.kysoccer.net).

The $200 non-refundable deposit must be paid immediately (due July 1), or you may pay in full.  DEPOSITS NOT RECEIVED ON TIME WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED A SPOT ON THE TEAM! 

SPRING/HIGH SCHOOL Players will pay the $200 deposit by July 1st and have the full amount due by February 1st.

Both forms (Medical and birth certificate) are checked by the tournament officials the night before a tournament begins – and they do check for the notary seal! Player card are checked by the referees at the beginning of EVERY match, whether it be league play or tournament play. Every player must have a player card.  All player cards are the property of SIU and shall remain with the Team Manager at all times.
